Life now has a new meaning for Rohan!

Rohan with his father

Rohan Kumar, an eight year old boy, is the son of Inder and Tijiya, both illiterate labourers who live in a ghetto in the outskirts of Patna, a city in India. This ghetto is inhabited only by members of the musahar community. Rohan has one brother and three sisters. Rohan’s parents have a meagre income and live well below the poverty line.

Rohan did not have access to education and without the intervention of Shoshit Seva Sangh he would likely have remained in this ghetto like his parents. Rohan joined the school in 2009 in the pre-school class and is now in class I. He is a keen students and now that he has access to quality education, life for him is full of hope and prospects of transformational change not only for himself but also for his near and dear ones.

In the final exams of pre-school class Rohan averaged 88%,  scoring 90% in English, 87% in Hindi and 86% in Maths. Rohan currently is in class I and is doing extremely well. He can now look forward to a bright future thanks to Salil and Ehtasham!
