About Shoshit Samadhan Kendra
Shoshit Seva Sangh (SSS) runs a school called Shoshit Samadhan Kendra (SSK) in Patna, Bihar to impart quality education coupled with vocational training to the children of the musahar community.
SSK is an English medium residential school which provides tuition, boarding, lodging, clothes, books, healthcare & other necessities. All students at SSK are given full scholarships to provide all necessary facilities for imparting quality education to ensure a bright future.
Having received quality education, Musahar children passing out of SSK will be in a position to make full use of reservations in institutions of higher education in the fields of Engineering, Medical, Law, Accountancy, Management, etc. The few who can’t shall be given vocational training and empowered to become self-employed and self-reliant members of society. Having made a quantum jump in life, they shall become inspirational role models and catalysts of change in their community.
Cost of education
All the expenses on running the school and on the children are met from donations. SSS spends approximately INR 2,400 (~$50) per month per child.
Vision
SSS aspires to be in a position to ensure quality education for Musahar children in hundreds in a decade or two. This is a long-haul project, but its impact will be permanent. What has not happened over centuries can be achieved in a matter of a couple of decades by virtue of this project. That is why that SSS believes that this project will bring about a silent revolution in the musahar community.
